Community Larder

Hinksey Park Community Larder, will be a community-based initiative with a mission to reduce food waste and make good food affordable, by supporting the reduction of food waste, creating opportunities & engaging with the community.

What is a community larder?

A community larder is a ‘pop-up’ hub, a place to access food that is surplus, make friends, access additional services and save money on your bills.

We will work in conjunction with SOFEA who support the running of community larders across the county and have been a charity working with communities for over 10 years.

Cost

There is a one off set up fee of £10 and then you donate £3.50 a week for an individual membership, or for a family membership is £7.00 per week all payable monthly.

SOFEA say, “the food is free, your weekly subscription allows you choose your food, and access other support. This holistic approach is proven, people look forward to visiting our local community larders, regardless of their circumstance. Everyone is welcome!”

The larder are very much a community initiative and runs with volunteers as part of inspiring and helping people.

Will the community fridge still be available?

The answer is yes it will. The setting up of the community larder does not mean we will no longer be running our community fridge on a Monday and Tuesday 12- 2.

How will it benefit you?

Supplement your weekly shop, it is value for money. Helps with repurposing of excess stock that would possibly go into landfill or in the bin.
