The Big Draw Saturday 28th October

South Oxford Arts (SOA) with the support of South Oxford Community Association, are pleased to be taking part this October in the annual Big Draw Festival, an international event, encourages everyone of all ages and abilities to get involved in drawing for pleasure. We attach a poster advertising this.

The Big Draw has links with prestigious organisations such as the John Ruskin Drawing Prize and Jerwood Arts. It has been proven that drawing has many benefits from enhancing creativity to boosting self-esteem and problem-solving skills.

The venue of the Main Hall at South Oxford Community Centre in Lake Street in the heart of the city offers a safe social space for individual and group interaction. All workshops are free and led by established local SOA artists and participants can drop in and take part. Please come along on your own, with family and friends.

This year’s Big Draw theme is ‘Drawing the Senses’ and we will be exploring all of the 5 senses of touch, smell, sight, hearing and taste as well as the 6th sense of imagination. The event is open from 10 till 4 with a Community Café downstairs from 10.30-3.30 offering refreshments.

Please come along on Saturday 28th October and support the artists with their workshops. We are also looking to link with the NHS ‘Arts for Wellbeing’ programme which offers exhibition space in Oxford hospitals and it is our aim to put on an exhibition showcasing some of the artwork from this year’s Big Draw.
